Keep You Happy and Shaped through Festivities

There is always some celebration going on, the seasonal celebrations, birthday parties, anniversaries, you name it.  The celebrations we participate every year are many and can be challenging for different reasons, our pocket our health or our emotional health if not all together. Well the good news is we decide if the challenge is going to be good or not. Make it to a good one, you are in charge!

What ever the celebration is the thoughts and steps in my article will give you good ideas about the choices you can make and the tools you can use to keep you in good mood and on the good lifestyle path you are on, and of course keep your waistline and tummy happy! 


Most people have the experience of overeating on festive occasions. There is so much of all the tasty food we grow up with on those feasts and we have unconsciously made up our mind not to be with out all the bites of it no matter what. The food is connected with emotions of affection, togetherness, connectedness and all the feelings of closeness we experience and is a great part of our overeating on the gatherings.  

Everything feels so good, first when you sit there with your belly too full, you realize the foolishness and have the feelings of guilt because you let yourself down. This can be the case if you just started your journey to a good healthy lifestyle, you can be a little more vulnerable but I'm here to tell you that you can do better and if not well let it be just for events and special gatherings enjoy your decision and do not fall to guilty feelings, that isn't the way, just enjoy your time knowing you do take care most of the days! My personal approach is 80/20 ;)

Here is the deal to keep the good life path
You will need actually to make up your mind before you attend any occasion.  You will need to take yourself seriously and respect enough the decisions you already made to live a good healthy life. You have to be committed about how you want to continue living a healthy life, while you in fact have as fun and I dare to say, even more fun then before. And that because you now feel greater are more energetic and you eat good as well! 


When you are invited
As a quest you will not always have the best choices depending on your host's lifestyle. One thing you can do is to bring with you as a gift food and dessert.  In that way you introduce to your host something new and healthier, with the possible impact that they too will follow your example, and you can enjoy eating from your own healthy food. 

Eat more vegetables, salad and less gravy or better up no gravy.

Choose to eat what you really would love to eat from all the dishes available, and fill your plate only once. The same goes for dessert and eat only a small piece.

Drink water, you save many calories there or allow you to celebrate and drink what you want but keep it to one glass. It is enough really.

Do not let anyone decide for you what to eat and how much. This can be hard sometimes specially when we are invited to relatives and they are not used to our new healthier habits. 

Always enjoy your food, eat with pleasure and slowly, that way you will be able to feel when you start to be full and stop eating. 

Moderation is a good advice to follow.


When you are the host
This is your party, your nest, your kingdom and you decide the music played. Your guests should know about your lifestyle changes. Though a good host have to be sensible and wise, so the guest are well taking care of, it doesn't mean you are supposed to do what you don't have in your life anymore to others pleasure. Make it memorable by changes which allow them to enjoy good food but healthier. The possibilities are endless, healthy food isn't boring flat and tasteless, on the contrary it is how food should be, healthy and tasty.

If you want to keep a low profile on this, no matter reason, you can also do minor changes in your food preparation and keep the traditional food almost the same but healthy. Do your homework then, search for similar recipes with a healthy profile and in that way you will serve healthy dishes without a big resistance from your family which can be tiresome. Good advice for the sensible and wise host!

But it is your game and you should play it your way without forcing anyone, however be smart and incorporate the changes with delicacy if needed. Changes need time, make it easier for you to keep your good life path.  It's more easy for people to accept change when the change is made wisely, bringing the new with care.


Last but not least 
Remain active is a key to a good life and a healthy lifestyle. You got to hit the pavement, the gym or get your training at home. What ever you do you need to keep moving daily. It's not enough with once in awhile and it's no excuse you have to much to do. You have to make time for your exercise and that has to be holy! That means if there isn't any disaster going on then you have to be active. 

As I said you set the boundaries, you need to be determined and those around you will realize that you are mastering your life creating the Best You by making the best choices for you and your loved ones!
